Eraserhead (1977), directed by David Lynch, stars Jack Nance as Henry, Charlotte Stewart as his girlfriend Nancy, Allen Joseph and Jeane Bates as Nancy's parents and Judith Roberts as the supposedly attractive neighbor. The movie begins with Henry's head floating over a meatball that is supposed to be a planet. There is a guy inside a house on the meatball that looks like he has leprosy and pulls levers. These levers create a huge sperm that comes out of Henry's mouth and then falls into puddle in an industrial street where the main character steps in it. The movie is set up in black and white with loud industrial noises playing in the background. Every sound is heard, like the elevator when Henry is taking it to his apartment.
Henry is told by his attractive neighbor that a girl called and invited him to dinner with her and her parents. He shows up and Things go from awkward to just plain weird. The main character cuts really tiny chickens with regular carving tools. The chicken then starts oozing a dark liquid, the mom starts orgasing, and the dad is just sitting there with a creepy smile. These random things happening throughout the movie does not change and no real plot line is established. In some way these random, awkward things move the story along and it works because the audiences attention is grabbed wondering "WTF is going on....."
The main point in Eraserhead is the fact that Henry and Nancy had a baby at only a few weeks
after the intercourse, and they have to deal with the fact that the baby is not actual baby but is a "Cow fetus-lizard baby". Wanting to see how these humans interact with the thing is the main point but is side-tracked with the lady with chipmunk cheeks singing in the heater and this worm like thing being sent in the mail. Nancy eventually leaves the main character alone with the baby and that's when Henry has to figure out how to deal with it. With the audience trying to figure out what is going on and looking at all the random people and things, not enough thought is actually being put into what it all means, and the movie mostly becomes something of visual.
If you are the kind of person who likes to see visual effects, weird looking creatures, and structure in the plot, this movie is for you. This is perfect for a teenager with a free hour who just wants to waste time. If you like dialogue, character development and an actual story line, maybe you should skip it.

Buried
Ryan Reynolds, stuck in a box, for two hours. I know that the movie does not sound very good but it is completly intense. Reynolds play Paul Conroy, a truck driver who gets buried alive with just a few items. He is the only one in the movie so the real question is if he can pull off a one man show, which I have decided he totally can. He created his character to show the emotion well even though it was mostly just anger. The few items he is stuck with is a flash light that turns red, a zippo lighter, two glow sticks, a cantine filled with alcohol (because that's what everyone buried needs), his medication for anxiety (because the kidnappers cared about him), and a cell phone that seemed to never go dead with just two bars. I am still confused of how he got service underground, but maybe the foreign cell phones are just better.
With a race against the clock he must find someone to help him, but after he calls his wife 24 times who doesnt seem to ever answer her phone, and get out. I guess he never tried to break the wood and crawl out like they did Kill Bill, because thats what I would do.
My vote: rent it. Decide for yourself.

My Bloody Valentine
This movies stars Jensen Ackles, Jamie King, and Kerr Smith. It about a little town in the middle of nowhere that runs on the mines. Big accident happens in mine because of screw up, people die, one survivor ends in comma. A few years later he wake up and kills the entire hospital and goes to the mines to get revenge because the young people are having a Valentines Day party there. Yeah, I know not that smart. Anyway, massacre begins. Tom Hanniger (Ackles), Sarah (King), and Axel (Smith), are there and of course all get away except Hanniger who who almost dies because hes the one who cause the original mine collapse. Luckily the cops come and chase him away and Hanniger goes far far away until ten years later when he comes back and murders start again.
First of all, it was so not needed in 3D. Granted that it did have a few jumping out moments it is not a must. It can keep the points for the fact that every movie ever made in 3D did not need to be in 3D.
Points for the fact of casting. Hot boys running around and taking of their shirts is a must for scary movies!:)
Cheesy? Most definatly.
Suprising? Not so much. Twists and turn were not a big part of this movie and was trying to build up to a big plot twist at the end with a game of "who done it?". The only people who were actually surprised were me and a friend and people who actually liked it.
Virdect? Some say yes, some say no. Watch it and you decide.

Scott Pilgram vs. The World Review
Yes, I did see this movie and it was EPIC!!!!!!! Just like the slogan for the movie, And epic of epic epicness.
It stared Michael Cera (Juno, Youth in Revolt) as a man who is in a band and falls in love with a girl, Ramona Flowers, Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Final Destination 3, Black Christmas). In order for him to actually be able to date her he has to defeat her seven evil exes. He has his group of friends, mostly his unhelpful band members and gay roommate, who make things alot more complicated. He also has a stalking ex-girlfriend who is in high school. And if that doesn't make the movie interesting then the twist should. It is not like the comic-book theme that has been emerging latley, but is a video game. As a ninties child who loves video games and the old nitendo, Super Mario Bros!!!!!, then the sound effects and the fact that when he defeats a person the turn into coins is awesomeness wrapped up in a movie. It does have a fast pace, and way cheesing lines but it still a good movie.
My verdict: Besides the totally obvious ending it is entertaing. Rent it.

How To Train Your Dragon
Yes, it was saw in 3D. Yes, it was in IMAX. And yes, It was awesome. I have to admit that I love movies made for 10 year olds. They are the most exciting. They are the most creative. They are not trying to hard to impress a bunch of people.
This movie is about a scrawny viking names Hiccup (Jay Baruchel) who tries to prove that he is someone by shooting down the most horrific, terrifying dragon. He finds him and takes care of him, names him toothless, and become very close. (Not in a creepy way, in a this is a kids movie way.) Toothless is very cute. Anyway, there whole journey is hillarious and I have many favorite parts. To add in, the movie made me cry. Three times.
1. Toothless in training. When he draws and gets mad when Hiccup steps on the line. So He messes with the dragon and Toothless face goes from angry to nice, angry to nice. And when He eats, at first he forces Hiccup to eat first.
2. The dad and dad's friend. Gerard Butler plays the dad and Craig Furgeson is the other. They are irish and awesome, and always tells Hiccup that he needs to change. In a funny way, not a sad way.
3. The "friends". They are hillarious. You have the bully type which is really scared. The twins, who are creepy, but funny. They are always fighting. And the guy who has no purpose but just shouts out facts.
This movie is a great one, and even the parents can enjoy. See it. In 3D.

The Uninvited
This was a really good movie. Turned out way different than i though it would. It was not really a haunting. A scary movie. But more of a thriller. Like how is this going to turn out.
AND WOW, what a shocker the ending was. We sat there after credits, after lights came on, and every other person in the theater gone, with our mouths open. I am pretty sure that we even saud no, and wanted it to rewind and change it.
The movie had a slow start. It even was rocky in the middle. Through out the thing you wonder if it will get better or if it will sink into your mind as, just another movie. It does start to get better, but the ending really kicks it and brings the movie to extroidenary measures.
Watch it one day. But it is not a priority.

The Bounty Hunter
This movie was really good. It mostly was cute. Of course I loved it because Gerard Butler was in it, and he is just awesome. It was funny and cute. Yes cute but I love cute movies. And him running and then tackling her was fudgen hillarious.
It had the romantic factor wich we just loved. I mean everyone knew they were going to end up back together, refall back in love, just by watching the previews. But that does not mean that I do not want to see the journey they take to get there.
I did have a few problems with some of it though. Like when there was an accident and a car was damaged and laying on its side, but nobody calls the cops. And what was he going to once everything was overr? She still skipp[ed bail and he still needs to bring her to jail. Which he does. (Sorry for the give away)
My opinion, See it, if you like these kinds of movies. And if you love Gerard Butler. (BTW, he is irish)
